We met on Twitter. Both of us have a passion for current events and politics and somehow found ourselves interacting online. We were both added to a group chat where we were able to connect and eventually get to know each other more.
Chandler is terrible at surprises because he kept hinting at things so I knew the proposal was coming soon. One evening after I came home from work, he asked if I wanted to go walk the shoreline of the lake and watch the sunset. We had been planning this for a while so I didn't think much of it. When we got to the lake we walked around, held hands, and laughed. Chandler insisted we have someone take our picture but the only people around were teenagers. For some reason, I didn't want to ask these random kids to take a picture of us. (He kept insisting). We didn't end up asking them due to how stubborn I am and we walked back to the car. I could tell something was up because Chandler seemed upset. After some interrogation, he told me he was trying to propose and wanted someone to take a picture of it for me and he thought it was all ruined. I laughed and reassured him and said "We are going back to that lake and you are proposing to me dammit!!" We walked back down to the shore and we recorded ourselves laughing, dancing with each other, kissing and he proposed. Not your average proposal but it is funny and unique. I won't ever forget it.
