Question

How do I get there?

Answer

Drummond Island is a remote island in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. There are many ways to get there including flight, by car, and ferry boat. The most direct route for flights is to fly to Chippewa County International Airport (CUI) and then rent a car. Delta offers a nonstop flight to CUI from Detroit Metro Airport daily. You can also fly to Traverse City Airport or Grand Rapids Airport and rent a car from there. By car, simply hop on I-75 North, cross the Mackinaw Bridge, and look for exits for Drummond Island about 15 miles north of the bridge. After crossing into Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Drummond Island is a beautiful 1 hour drive east along the Northern Michigan coastline. Finally, and perhaps the most fun, Drummond Island is only accessible by a ferry boat. The ferry departs for Drummond from De Tour, Michigan every :40 min. It returns to De Tour from Drummond every :10 min. Ferry fares are $20 per vehicle no matter how many passengers.
