Ryan met Sasha in his own backyard. While Sasha wishes that she met Ryan at a library or fancy lecture, and Ryan wishes that he met Sasha at a Spongebob Fan Club Event, college Greek Life had other plans in store. The location was set: the backyard of a fraternity house annex. Though Ryan recalled seeing Sasha at prior events around campus, he was always too shy to approach her. Sasha genuinely did not notice Ryan's existence until she wound up at a day-party (darty) hosted by his fraternity brothers. After a competitive game meant to inebriate a college student as fast as possible (in this case Flip Cup), Ryan still could not gather the bravery needed to ask Sasha for her number. But Sasha was not lightly deterred. The work began quickly afterwards. Sasha recruited a fraternity brother of Ryan's (the dashing and brilliant Max Shall) to corner Ryan with Sasha's number in hand. Just a few weeks later, Ryan and Sasha gathered for their first date. Their goal: to bake an apple pie together. Unfortunately, Ryan owned no sugar, no pie pans, no cinnamon, and only one cup of flour. The result of the baking was abysmal. The result of the date was wonderful. Five years running, Sasha and Ryan spend their anniversary making an apple pie, each one better than the one that came before. In the intervening years, Sasha and Ryan triumphed over long-distance, traveled Europe's most popular (France) and unpopular (Lithuania) locations, listened to hours of Taylor Swift and My Chemical Romance, and ran races across the United States. As a team, they conquered medical textbooks and Stalin biographies. Ryan proposed to Sasha in Tallinn, Estonia, the very location where Sasha's grandparents spent their Soviet honeymoon fifty years prior. We are immensely excited to share our love with our beloved friends, family, and mentors. Anybody who's met us, knows that all three have been essential to our success and happiness.
