We both swiped right on Bumble, and Alex sent the first (lame) message. The bumble banter went on, and Raf asked Alex to play in an outdoor doubles volleyball tournament. Alex was new to town and looking to meet people so she said yes, though admittedly she didn't have a clue what grass volleyball was about. They ended up winning the tournament (team chemistry was off the charts) and took home cash prizes. After a long day in the sun and covered in dirt and grass stains, they said their goodbyes and went their separate ways. On the drive home, a smart friend of Raf's (thanks Eddy!) told him to call that girl back and ask her out for celebratory drinks and dinner. Raf called Alex, and she agreed (because, duh! Team chemistry!) and they had a lovely evening at Devlin's patio in Brighton over beers and burgers. PS: They went on to play a second grass tournament but lost miserably... guess it was beginners luck...
On our fifth Anniversary weekend we planned a nice night out in Boston including dinner, a comedy show and a walk in the Boston Commons. The plan was to pop the question at the big Christmas tree in the Boston Commons, but we got a little lost. Eventually we made our way to the tree and got a picture together. While gazing at the lights, Raf got down on one knee and popped the question!
