The only way to get to Hydra is to take a ferry from the Piraeus Port in Athens. You should allow 1.5 hours, after you have cleared Customs in Athens International Airport, to travel by car/taxi to Piraeus Port. Ferry from Athens (Piraeus) to Hydra takes 1 hr 15 mins - 2 hr 30 mins, depending on the specific route and vessel. See ferry schedules and book tickets ahead of time at: www.directferries.com If you have a rolling suitcase, it is doable to take your own luggage to your hotel from the Port. Alternatively, contact your hotel ahead of time to arrange luggage transport from Port to hotel (via donkey or cart).
There are no automobiles in Hydra. Modes of transportation include: walking, donkey rides, and water taxis. All venues for the weekend are close to the central Port and Town of Hydra. We will provide private boats for our guests to/from the Friday Beach Party, and Rehearsal Dinner (family + wedding party only). You can expect a short (< 10 min) ride. Water taxis are always available at the Port of Hydra (same spot where the ferries arrive/depart). If you explore the island and need to call a water taxi to get back to the Harbor, just call: 0030 22980 53690. Also be mindful, the streets in Hydra are cobblestone with an incline or stairs at parts. Tall skinny heels are not recommended.

Beach Party: "Sun and Swim" - Swimsuits, pareos, shorts, sundresses for women. Swim trunks, shorts, casual shirts for men. Rehearsal Dinner (invitation only): "Summer Cocktail" - Cocktail dresses for women. Jackets (no ties required) for men. Wedding Ceremony/Dinner Reception: "Formal" - Gowns or maxi dresses for women. Suits and ties for men. Note: Skinny heels may be difficult when walking the cobblestone streets of Hydra.
European electrical adapters will NOT work with hair dryers and hair styling tools. Most hotels (including those we recommended on Travel page) will have hair dryers in the hotel rooms. Most establishments in Hydra accept major credit cards and debit cards. There are also ATMs in the Town of Hydra. That said, if you want to acquire Euros to buy things, it might be a better rate at the Athens Airport.
