I first met Alex in December, 2013. We were at a holiday party which Alex helped organize. As the party planner, she was greeting people at the door and that’s the first time we met! About a year later, our paths crossed again! I would frequently invite her to the Wharf Bar & Grill to watch Ranger’s games. They made it to the Eastern conference finals that year and we watched just about every away game together at the Wharf! Soon after the rangers were eliminated from the playoffs, Alex moved on to a new job and I finally got the courage to ask her on an official date! The rest is history.
While on a trip to visit Joe's brother in Amsterdam, we stopped over in Denmark and Norway! Day 2 of our trip began with a bike tour of Copenhagen, followed by an afternoon of cafe and boutique hopping in the rain. That evening, we set off to explore the funky Tivoli gardens, one of the world's oldest theme parks. Upon arrival, I instantly insisted that we ride the roller coasters. I gave up after a few moments of unsuccessful convincing, confused by Joe's insistence that the park warranted a "chill vibe". So out of character for Joe to turn down an opportunity to ride a roller coaster! We compromised on a smaller coaster which unbeknownst to me forced Joe to hold on to his pockets very tightly throughout the ride! [Our staged coaster photo might be one of the best, Joe has one hand in the air and one hand gripping his right pocket.] We enjoyed dinner at a restaurant in the park, which served us a tasting menu of basically tomatoes. For those of you that don't this about Joe, he HATES tomatoes! We headed towards our hotel in Nyhavn, and stopped on a bridge overlooking the opera house where Joe kept me distracted by the view. I remember him saying my name and I turned around to see him down on one knee. He asked, my heart flooded with emotion and I said yes. We ran to a restaurant nearby to pop some champagne! The first of many celebrations on this wonderful roller coaster of life together.
