FAQs

The Wedding Website of Alexandra Pemberton and Gavin Mailman
Question

What's the weather like in Cuba that time of the year?

Answer

This is their dry season, so we can expect to see mostly sunshine. Highs of 27, lows of 20.

Question

What should I bring?

Answer

Many people are worried about "shortages" and advising you to bring everything under the sun... this is NOT NECESSARY. You should have everything you will need, including bottled water daily. If you wish, bring condiments. We typically bring peanut butter, ketchup and Tabasco. Also, a travel mug will come in handy as the cups at the bar are quite small.

Question

How will I get back and forth from the airport and resort?

Answer

There will be buses to meet us at the airport upon arrival, and pick us up a few hours before our departure. It is a short 15 minute bus ride to our resort.

Question

How do I book my trip?

Answer

When the details are finalized, our travel agent will be in touch with all the guests to arrange room selections, flights and payment. There are payment plan options available after the initial $150 deposit (per guest).

Question

Is there anything planned other than the wedding day festivities?

Answer

We are hoping to plan a bachelor/bachelorette party excursion at some point during our vacation for anyone who is interested. This is pending availability of course. Other than that, we are hoping to catch up with everyone and enjoy some relaxing time on the beach!

Question

Is it a direct flight?

Answer

Unfortunately, there are no direct flights into Cuba during the month of Dec/Jan. We will be flying into Toronto on the way there and back home.

Question

Are children the same price as adults?

Answer

Children under 3 are free, aside from a $60 fee from Air Canada for the flight. Children 3-12 are a discounted rate. Children over 12 are adult rates.

Question

Is there anything that isn't included?

Answer

Typically people like to bring some cash for tipping or spending at the market. American bills are preferred, but Canadian bills work as well. If you would like to tip with Canadian coin, we encourage you to bring bills with you and change it at the resort when you get there. Cuban banks don't accept coins, so you will do them a big service by approaching it this way. Do not change your money into Cuban pesos. The Cuban people do not use it anymore.

Question

What if I find a cheaper price online?

Answer

Our agent works hard to ensure you receive the best rates possible. If you do happen to find a more affordable option online, just let us know and we’ll see if we can get the same price. This allows us to include you with the rest of the wedding party, so you all get the same group benefits. We have a "price drop guarantee" which means that if the price does happen to go down, we can take advantage of this through our agent.

Question

Can I take photos at the ceremony?

Answer

Please, do! The more memories the better. HOWEVER, we ask that no photos are posted to social media until we return to Canada. We are so excited to share this announcement ourselves, on our big day.

Question

Should I bring a gift?

Answer

Wedding gifts are absolutely not necessary. We are so thrilled that you are considering coming in vacation with us, and that is a gift in itself.
