The proposal took place on one of our many trips to Colorado where we found our love of hiking and exploring the world, together. Little did we know that our commitment to love would be found and discovered on those very trails we walked together. Our first hike of our journey, together, would begin at the Garden of the Gods. It was the week of earth day so we strolled through the visitor center - they had a big event going on and we each got a little spruce sapling to take home with us! (Yes, we still have them and they are thriving so far!). Erich was becoming more and more impatient and did not want to keep looking around and wanted to get out on the trail. We finally headed out. It was a beautiful hike to start - the first half was a paved path that weaved through giant, red rock formations before reaching the actual hiking trail. We were approaching an overlook when Erich goes "Hold on, I need to tie my shoe" and I turned around looking down, and I was like "your shoe is not untied?" and he says, "I didn't need to tie my shoe.." and got down on one knee and proposed! It was such an incredible feeling - we were both so excited we didn't remember hiking the next mile or so but we were able to get some fun photos and celebrate with dinner after the hike! You never know what you might find on the trail!
