Things To Do

Gainesville has such a special place in our hearts, and we’re excited for you to experience a little bit of what makes it unique. From live music on a warm evening, to walks under the mossy oaks, to dips in the cool springs nearby, there’s a rhythm and beauty here that we love. The culture is laid-back and welcoming, and the nature around every corner reminds us to slow down and soak it all in. We can’t wait to share this place with you. See below for a few of our favorite local places.

The Bull

18 Southwest 1st Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32601

Our favorite local jaunt for live music and a beer on tap. Affectionately known as "Gainesville's Living Room" folks from all walks of life gather here for good music and good conversation.

Kin Cocktail Bar & Lounge

9 West University Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32601

An upscale bar offering classic and experimental cocktails and small bites.

Dragonfly Sushi & Sake Company

201 Southeast 2nd Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32601

Where Emre and Allie had their first date! Delicious sushi and cocktails on a breezy outdoor patio await you here.

Cry Baby’s

1 West University Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32601

Cocktail bar and jazz lounge. We love the vibes!

Piesanos Stone Fired Pizza

5200 Northwest 43rd Street, Gainesville, FL 32608

Classic neighborhood Italian joint with no frills. You may notice there are several locations in town, but Allie and Emre feel strongly about this... you have to go the location on 43rd St. And they STRONGLY recommend the ultra-thin crust pizza. As a Long Island boy, Emre says it’s some of the best pizza he's had outside of New York.

Muñecas Taco Garden and Bar

317 Southwest 4th Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32601

Hands down one of Emre and Allie's favorite places to eat in Gainesville - the South Florida-Inspired and Asian-Fusion menu of your dreams. Emre recommends the Black and Blue Steak Wok Tacos and Allie recommends the Moqueca with shrimp!

Opus Coffee - Airstream

403 Southwest 4th Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32601

If you know Allie, then you know she's a sucker for a good latte. Opus Airstream in 4th Avenue Food Park is one of the first places she visited after moving to Gainesville. It was love at first sip. **If you're hungry, stop at HumbleWood and get Emre's favorite, the McHumble**

First Magnitude Brewing Company

1220 Southeast Veitch Street, Gainesville, FL 32601

Have a beer or NA seltzer on tap and walk, run, or bike down Hawthorne Trail which starts right outside the brewery.

Depot Park

874 Southeast 4th Street, Gainesville, FL 32601

A beautiful downtown park complete with paved trails, playground, Goldie's (for a burger), and connected to both Hawthorne Trail and the Cade Museum.

Devil's Millhopper Geological State Park

4732 Millhopper Road, Gainesville, FL 32653

If you enjoy geological sites and other wonders of nature, take the short drive/hike to the Devil's Millhopper Geological State Park.

Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park

100 Savannah Boulevard, Micanopy, FL 32667

Great for hiking and seeing wildlife! Walking through here feels like you are in a different place, not lil' ol' Gainesville. The Ecopassage provides especially stunning views.

La Chua Trail

La Chua Trail, Gainesville, FL

Great (easy) hiking trail and, if you're lucky, lots of gators to see! This is where Emre saw his first gator.

Ginnie Springs Outdoors, LLC

7300 Northeast Ginnie Springs Road, High Springs, FL 32643

There are dozens of springs within driving distance of Gainesville. This is the closest. It might be a little too cold to swim in February, but its the PERFECT time for manatee sightings! Get there early before the crowds arrive.
