Though we initially met at our local union hall, our story started during a night of karaoke.

David and I shared the same dream of visiting Ireland. For years we had talked about it and decided to finally make it a reality. For the first day and a half we toured Dublin, we ate some great food, drank some good beer, met some cool people and then July 6th we took the train to Cork. We were welcomed by some rainy weather and decided to rent a car and head over to Killarney to see Muckross abbey. After wondering through the beautiful ruins of the friary, we drove to the Torc waterfall. Right before exiting the car, the rain had turned into a full on down poor but even though we were already wet and we would wind up soaked, we knew the hike would be worth it. It looked like we had entered an alternate universe, the forest resembled a scene out of Lord of the Rings. I was awestruck by the view while David was on a mission to get to the top. We treked up the stone trail, David in the lead and me trying to leisurely stroll and take in the fresh air (more like catching my breath). The top of the falls was one of the most memorable sights. As David reached into the bag for some water, I took the opportunity to explore off the trail. I walked down to the rocks by the roaring water to take it all in. The scenery was stunning, absolutely gorgeous. Eventually David followed and as we were talking about the trip and how amazing the waterfall was, he started to ask more in depth questions and asked me if we were going to continue these adventures forever, when I replied "hell yeah we are" he gave me a hug, pulled out the ring and asked if we should make it official. To which I replied "Yes!", loud enough to get the following hikers attention and they were kind enough to take a few pictures for us.
