In the summer leading into both of our freshman year, Dan attended John Carroll’s Orientation. At orientation, through team building events, Dan met a girl from Chicago, Mary, and introduced her to his friend group. Throughout the few days of orientation, Mary kept saying “I can't wait for you guys to meet my roommate,” who she constantly called throughout the few days of orientation. Her roommate turned out to be her longtime best friend, Alexandra. Dan and his friends became close to Mary and her friend group throughout the college years, but would later on shift into their own separate friend group. During the end of their junior year, Alexandra posted a picture on her social media of donuts, and anyone who knows Dan, knows that he had to have some. From that simple harmless interaction, they became close friends again. Alexandra, being from Chicago, ended up spending the summer going into senior year in Cleveland, so she quickly became close with all of Dan’s friends–especially John Brownlee. Anyone who knows John, knows he likes to stir things up, much to his own entertainment. John, being a great salesman, put the idea in Dan’s head that he needed to date Alexandra, which became Dan’s goal for the next year. As things began going well early into the beginning of senior year with Alexandra and Dan, Dan received a job offer–in Nebraska, which Alexandra was not enthralled with. Dating for the entire senior year of college then doing very long distance, didn’t seem like the best idea for Alexandra, but Dan sold cars at one point, he knows how to overcome an objection–no matter the size. The two remained close throughout their final year at John Carroll, but never decided to date, as Alexandra would be moving to Chicago, while Dan moved to Kearney Nebraska to work for Eaton Corporation. Determined to make it work, Dan claimed he would visit her every month or more no matter how terrible the transportation (3 hour drive each way to the airport and late night flight), and he did just that. After spending a year of long distance, Dan moved to Milwaukee, WI, which was about a 1.5 hour drive straight to Alexandra’s house, which made the distance a walk in the park to see each other every weekend. Dan’s company moved him a third time, back to Cleveland, Ohio, and Alexandra could not bear to be without him, so also moved back to the familiar city of Cleveland to work in the Neuroscience ICU at University Hospitals. Fast forwarding a year, they are now engaged in the city that they met, surrounded by close friends and family, and will be starting their new life together.
