How we met

Spring Fling 2014

If you know us now, it would be a surprise to know that I was the one late to my first class that morning. Nervous and all as for this was my first college class ever in a new town, and No familiar faces around me. As I walked into the class that morning the only two seats available were one at the very front of the classroom, or one towards the back of the classroom, next to - you guessed it, Beto. I shyly walked up to him and asked if I could sit there, as for he kinda just gave a nod confirming it was okay. Our introductory lesson given by our professor that morning was to introduce yourself to the person next to you, in a way of respecting your boundaries before you were to get intimate with them. I started with “Hi I’m Alexandra, …. Blank blank blank” (you can ask me what I said in person) Beto took it SO personal and we just couldn’t stop laughing. I was secretly so embarrassed because it was just a joke to partake in the lesson. Long story short Beto made the decision to drop this class the first 5 minutes he sat in it, and good thing I came 10 minutes late, because here we are 9 years later. The Best decision we both ever made was to be study buddies, and you know exchange a kiss or two in between. Also, Did I mention the class was.. HUMAN SEXUALITY! Hahaha

The proposal

Meet me at sunset

What a day to say the least. Let’s start with I was so freaking tired and exhausted from all our ventures that week, that the last thing I wanted to do was go to the beach for sunset, with two dogs, and freezing cold. I probably told him 10x all I wanted to do was go back to our airbnb in Capitola and watch the sunset from the balcony. But, He insisted we go. Mouth shut, eyes rolling, I sat in the passenger seat as we drove along the coast- something we do often from the time we first started “studying” together to now. We got L&L Hawaiian BBQ, again another norm for us, and we pulled up at sand piles, also known as our beach. I threw on some ugly leggings and wished I had a big sweater. I gathered our stuff, the dogs, and we started walking. He wanted to go left where we’d usually watch the sunset but the water was already coming up high so I mentioned we should go right, he turned that down fast. So, I proceeded to just walk in the direction he wanted to go but ahead of him. I turn back and he’s acting like he stepped on something. Stick? Shell? Bottle? Jelly fish? Haha whatever it was I said “Are you okay?” Let’s keep it movin. He’s “not” ok, so I come back to him, and he pulls out what I didn’t know then a message in a bottle. Says he’s okay but has me look further into what it was. I open it up, unravel the note and it all made sense the second I read “WILL ……” it all happened so fast by the time I looked at him he was on one knee, stuttering will you marry me, people were staring, dogs were going crazy. I was in Awh! Our friends were there to capture the moment for us, and It ended up being a very beautiful night! OH and I quickly apologized for being such a pain that day! haha

For all the days along the way
