How do I get to the wedding?

Our venue, Sourdough Valley Ranch is located in Woodland Park- about 35 min west of Colorado Springs. We unfortunately cannot provide transportation to the wedding.

What is the location like?

Answer

Sourdough Valley Ranch is located in Woodland Park, CO at approximately 9,000 ft. When you are at this altitude it is important to drink plenty of water, wear sunscreen or a hat, and consume alcohol slowly. We are closer to the sun and have less air to breathe! The ceremony and reception will be located on the same property. The ceremony will be about 200 yards from the reception location and bathroom facilities. On the property you should expect a covered picnic area, enclosed reception area ,and bathroom facilities with full showers. There are four cabins and dozens of designated campgrounds on the property for our use (you will indicate on your RSVP if you plan to camp or stay on the property).

What will the weather be like?

Answer

In August expect hot, dry daytime temperatures ranging from 70-80F. When the sun goes down expect 45-65F and possible afternoon showers. We recommend layers!

What is the dress code?

Answer

Wear whatever you feel comfortable in (and can dance in)! Please keep in mind that we will be mostly outside in the mountains. It is always a good idea to pack layers and wear sturdy shoes. Dresses, slacks, sport coats, jumpsuits- anything dressy casual would be acceptable.

Where should I stay?

Woodland Park is a small town with few hotel options. What it lacks in hotels, it makes up for in motel cabins, Airbnbs, and national forests! Other options for accommodations just down highway 24 include Green Mountain Falls, Cascade-Chipita Park or Colorado Springs. Sourdough Valley Ranch has four cabins available for $80/night per cabin. Cabins have heat and electricity, but no restrooms or water. There is one port-a-potty beside each cabin or you can walk to the bathroom facilities near the reception. You will need to provide your own linens, pillows or sleeping bags. Cabin #1 can house 4 people, Cabin #2 & #3 can house 6 people, and Cabin #4 can house 8 people. Also on the property are dozens of designated campgrounds for $25/night per spot. You are welcome to car, tent, or RV camp with access to the bathroom and shower facilities. We encourage you to stay the night on SVR with us and party the night away! When you RSVP you will indicate if you plan staying on the property.

How long can I stay on the property?

We are hosting friends to set up camp Thursday night (all are welcome!), but you can set up camp whenever works for you. If you prefer to set up camp Friday or Saturday, please do. All are welcome to stay through Sunday. Camping spots are $25/day.

What time should I arrive?

The ceremony begins promptly at 4:00pm.

Where should I park?

There will be a number or designated spots near the reception and on the dirt road. If you are staying on the property we ask you park at your cabin or campground.

Of course! We will ask for more details on the RSVP.

May I bring a guest?

Answer

If your invitation mentions your name and a guest, please bring your favorite dance partner. Otherwise, we'd prefer if it was just you!

Can my dog join in the festivities?

Unfortunately, no. This is Rio's world, we all just live in it.

Are children welcome?

Answer

While we love your little ones, our wedding is going to be an adults-only event so that everyone can relax and enjoy the evening. We appreciate you making arrangements ahead of time and leaving the kids at home so you can celebrate with us.

What about COVID?

Answer

Although we are not requiring you to be vaccinated, we do ask that if you are not, you take a COVID test prior to attending. Additionally, no matter your vaccination status, please do not attend if you feel any sickness or COVID-like symptoms right before or during the weekend.
