There are lots of ways to get to Edinburgh from the USA. Travel tip ! Expedia offers bundle deals with hotel and flights. We have used this often, saved a-lot of money. You can select partial hotel stays of your going to visit another city or country during the trip. Flights connecting in USA Connect via Chicago, Newark, Washington DC, Philadelphia. This is often shortest route, for example 6 hrs from Newark to Edinburgh but they use smaller planes so can feel crammed if not used to it. Connect via European Cities. Most of the time we have traveled this way, often slightly longer travel but more comfortable etc. Amsterdam or London good options, only 1hr connecting flights to Edinburgh. Easy journey from Edinburgh Airport via the tram (light rail) takes about 25-30 mins, cheap and direct into the City. You can Uber or taxi, a short walk from the terminal. I prefer this on the return to the airport. Great options on AirBnb and Vrbo as well as the hotels listed below.
