On a morning in grade 10, Alex was late and Nicole was early. When they both got on the same TTC bus to school it wasn't unlikely...because Alex is always late and Nicole is always early. Alex spotted Nicole, tapped her on the shoulder and one simple "Hi, what school do you go to?" was the beginning of forever.

On a trip to Europe, Alex and Nicole landed in Verona, Italy. Nicole's dream was to see Juliette's balcony, which is why they were there... or so Nicole thought. On the morning of the proposal Nicole threw not one but two curveballs at Alex before even getting to the balcony. Firstly, she wore a sweater during European summer, to which Alex said "you'll be hot in 5 minutes don't wear it". Nicole wore the sweater and was in fact hot in 5 minutes, and then had to stuff it into her purse because Alex did not want to carry it and was worried she would see the ring box in his bag. Secondly, Nicole was adamant on having coffee prior to which Alex replied "you've been talking about this balcony for years, let's go now." Once they arrive, Alex and Nicole realize they're only allowed 30 seconds to take photos, unplanned proposals are not allowed on the balcony and gave their phones to the only person up there. Alex told Nicole to look away and pose for a picture, and once she looked back...Alex was down on one knee. Nicole immediately started sobbing, and a nervous Alex asked "aren't you gonna put it on?"
