In 2016, we both ended up working at what we thought would be our “dream job,” the New York Historical Society. As two curious lovers of history and the world, we naturally gravitated toward each other. From our walks to the subway, bumping into each other in the hallways of the education wing, to lunch dates at the Natural history museum - those moments were filled with dialogue, curiosity, corny jokes, and wonder about the other. We didn’t end up together then, but it was the beginning of one of the most beautiful sparks in our lives. Alex moved to California and Liz stayed in NYC, but from time to time they thought about how the other was doing. The short story is that Alex moved back to the east coast to become a teacher, and Liz peeped him on Tinder. They both matched, started chatting but Alex..... never texted back! SO, a year and multiple texts from a persistent Liz later, they reconnected and met on one Brooklyn summer day in July. What was supposed to be a quick catch up lunch, because as Liz insisted at the time she was “not looking for a relationship” turned into many dinners where we talked about our lives, our dreams, our passions, fears and so much more. The long story is still being written, and what we know is that we love each other so much, and that could not be possible without the people who have loved and supported our journey to get here… We are so excited to celebrate with you all because you have forever shaped our Yes, and we hope to continue to grow in our love as we share this day and the rest of our days with you all.
