Like many millennials these days we met on an online dating app…we know it's not very romantic but it's where our story started. We met at Steins Beer Garden in Mountain View when we decided to meet in person, sat at a high top table at the bar, ordered a couple of drinks…and some pork belly mac and cheese (one of my favorite comfort foods). Little did I realize that mac and cheese had pasta, which is made with wheat, which has gluten, which is not great for Alex since he has celiacs! He said nothing and ate some here and there, because he wanted to make a good first impression on me (to this day he claims he "risked his life for me"*). We then continued our date by walking through downtown Mountain View, catching Pokemon (this was during the time that Pokemon Go was a big thing) and looked at the beautiful houses in the neighborhoods. *Alex decided to eat the pasta of his own fruition and is perfectly healthy (once I realized 6 months after we had been dating what he had done for me, I thought it was very sweet but also hit him very hard in the chest lol).
We made reservations at one of our favorite restaurants to celebrate Alex's birthday, got a little dressed up, and had a delicious dinner. After, Alex suggested that we go to a wine bar in Downtown Mountain View for dessert. I agreed…because after all it was his birthday celebration. We got there around sunset and Alex said he wanted to walk around and look at the houses (the same houses we looked at during our first date). So we walked around, reminiscing and laughing about our first date almost 3 years ago and when we arrived in the exact same place where we had our first kiss. Alex got on one knee, took the ring out of his pocket, forgot everything he was going to say, and asked me to marry him…and here we are!
