We’re getting married

Not many love stories begin over a dead body, but this one does. There are few things that bring two people closer than spending hours dissecting, cleaning, and learning the human body together. Eventually the long hours in the cadaver lab turned into long hours in the library, which then turned into foosball matches in the school's game room at 3 AM. Ultimately, those long hours built the friendship that turned into our love. We were just two Californian kids with a shared dream: To get into medical school to help save people. Little did we know that our relationship would help save each other during what seemed to be the hardest times of our lives. We were both 3,000 miles away from home trying to get our Masters in a little town called Norfolk, in the state of Virginia. Now, here we are 7 years later, both Resident Physicians working 90 hours a week. We’re finally back in California but we’re living in separate cities for our professions, which has only made us realize that home is wherever the other one is. Looking back, we both agree the intense hours we spent in our Masters and in Medical School were actually the good times. And, we have a good laugh at how neither of us imagined getting into a relationship, let alone falling in love in Virginia. For those of you who don’t know, the state’s slogan is “Virginia is for Lovers.” Over the last 7 years we've learned that every relationship requires hard work to flourish. Ours quite literally took blood (our cadaver, Edith's), sweat, and tears (mainly Koshal’s in the library). All that to say, we hope our story is a gentle reminder that love can truly be found in any moment. And, we can’t wait to celebrate all the moments it took to get to our big day with you. Cheers, A&K
