Almost 4 years ago, Kelsey was preparing for a week vacation when she decided to ask a co-worker, Jon, who was into Snakes/Reptiles, to see if he could babysit her bearded dragon. Jon agreed to take care of him but little did she know, he would have a small surprise waiting. The morning before heading to vacation, Kelsey and her father, Wayne, drove down to Jon’s place to drop off her bearded dragon Dino. Before she got there Jon had mentioned that he had brought a friend over to assist in bringing Dino and his cage inside. As Kelsey and her father arrived at Jon’s place, Jon and his friend came out to greet them. Jon introduced his friend, Alex, to them and began to move Dino and all his needs inside. There were small minor interactions before Kesey had left but Alex already thought Kelsey was good looking from the start. Kelsey, on the ride home, had to ask her father what Jon’s friends name was, in which he responded back “Alex I think?”. At the same time Alex was talking to Jon talking about how excited he was but does not have the kahunas to do anything about it but Kelsey was already on the run. After stalking on facebook for sometime, Kelsey decided to make the first move on her vacation in the small game of chess by friend requesting Alex but then quickly removing the request. Receiving the notification, Alex decided he was going to accept it but when he opened the application it was gone. He though to himself thinking “Maybe I am hallucinating it” and somehow his “manhood” kicked in and decided to send the friend request. Kelsey quick accepted and conversation kicked on from there until she got back from vacation. Alex and Kelsey had hung out several times, from walking the railtrail over the Hudson, eating at Texas roadhouse then watching “The Room” at Jon’s place, to hanging out here and there and eventually beginning their relationship at the holy cow over some ice cream.
Began on a Monday when everything seemed to be already suspicious, that life would take the next step. Kelsey has been noticing that Alex had been acting weird the past month doing unusual stuff that ordinarily he wouldn't be. Constantly texting people, constantly looking stuff up on his phone, rather than sitting in front of the TV playing his games. Kelsey, already suspicious, was texting her best friend Cathy mentioning all the weirdness she has seen, raising some red flags on this Monday morning. During work, a notification that someone was at the door, so Kelsey decided to look at the ring app and see who was there. To her surprise it was a package coming in but Alex was already signing for something. She thought it was unusual that you would sign of on a package so she text her boyfriend, at the time, to see what he had to sign for. Alex on the other hand thought he was going to be clever about getting the package because he though he had disabled the ring notifications from all devices and also tried to keep an eye out for the delivery truck but it didn't go anywhere near as planned. He replied back that he was getting a package for a Christmas gift he was getting for his sister but immediately regretted saying that because he knew the ring he had received was in a much smaller box. At this time Kelsey was asking more and more questions, texting Alex and her best friend. Alex had to do something to throw off the suspicion as he was being interrogated over a package so he called her best friend and now everyone was in this 3 way triangle of texting/phone communication trying to throw of this suspicion from Kelsey or confirm her suspicion of a proposal. Cathy was then able to help sway the conversation by suggesting to Kelsey one last time to hang out for hibachi at the Golden Ginza before they left New York. Kelsey agreed and before we knew it we left the suspicion in the past for a few. Alex had told Cathy a few weeks prior that he wanted her to be there since she was Kelsey's closest friend. During this time Cathy and Kelsey had been very close and in tears so this was the last time they would see one another in person, or so we thought, *spoiler* ended up seeing them that weekend before they left, but not the point of the story. Alex had some time to get everything prepared packed up the ring threw it in his pocket and waited for the evening. This wasn't anywhere near what he wanted to do but if he had waited any longer for the next planned even it would've just been more obvious. Later that night Alex and Kelsey met up with Cathy and her husband Mike at the Golden Ginza for one last meal. We get to the table, Alex moves the ring from his wallet to his coin pocket, being more obvious because he can't seem to lie like he use to, and wait until a time he thought was perfect. Right after the hibachi show, and 4-5 sake bombs in, Alex felt a little more comfortable to no longer give himself a mini panic attack and have the guts to yell out Kelsey full name, get on one knee and actually proposed. Kelsey was still shocked and thrown off. Of course she said yes. Sure the moment Alex wanted to propose was not at the current and nor was it the location he wanted but the main goal was to propose in front of Kelsey best friend. It was the one thing he knew that meant important to her. Once everything settled in they called Alex's brother first, since he had called earlier, then visited both parents in person then called tons of people to let them know. I'm sure they could've waited till the next day but who cares, it's their next step in their life and together they are now fiancés working in the next step of their relationship.
