Like any good modern love story, we met on a dating app. I, Kate, was pretty jaded about dating at this point, so although I was excited to meet Alex, I had my guard up. We met at a coffee shop in KC and completely lost track of time getting to know each other. We were there for three hours! Alex had plans to go on a trip to Colorado later that week and said we should go out again when he got back, but I tried to not get my hopes up. He proved me wrong though. He asked me to go on a date the night before his trip because he didn’t want to wait. And of course, we’ve been dating ever since.
To tell this story, we need to back up to May 21, 2019 (our two year dating anniversary). For milestones like this, we typically write notes to each other. This year Alex included a timeline of milestones we had shared thus far. It included things like the day he first met Junie B. (Kate's cat), our first trip together, etc. That following weekend we had plans to visit some of our favorite places in KC that we hadn't in a while. Alex asked if he could take some pictures of downtown from The Scout statue. I didn't think anything of it and thought it would just be another stop in our day. We ended up at the pond below The Scout statue and Alex handed me another note that read, "Day 734: I ask you to be my wife." From there, I proceeded to ask, "Is this really happening?!" This scared him a bit and he replied, "Is that okay?" Needless to say, it was TOTALLY okay and we can't wait for Day 1,041: We Get Married!
