Alex and Justus met on Tinder and had their first date the next day at a coffee shop. They talked about all of the things you're not supposed to talk about on first dates - death, love, god and the universe. A year later, Justus moved to LA for work, and they would visit each other every month or so. In Dec. of 2016, Alex was returning from a month long trip of traveling in Australia, and her connecting flight from LA to Sacramento was overbooked. Justus picked her up & drove her the long way from LA to Sacramento (stopping in SLO so she could get her dog, Cruz), they made it officially official as soon as they got to Sac and the rest is history!

Justus proposed to Alex at a weekend away surrounded by friends and Cruz during a game of telephone (yep, that one where you sit in a circle and try to guess what the first person said). Alex was the last person in the circle. Justus whispered "will you marry me," and Alex, competitive even in a game of telephone, kept playing the game and repeated what he said to the rest of the group. After realizing he had dropped to one knee and actually said what she thought he did, she said yes!
