Joshua and Alex met at a mutual friend's birthday party in the spring of 2018 while living in Seattle - after both attending Gonzaga University at the same time (Joshua '15, Alex '16) their paths never crossed. The party was an all day event leading from a park, to a Mariner's game, to some dive bars - they talked throughout the whole day and a week later had their first date. Their first date was at a deep dish pizza place, during which they learned that neither of the two like deep dish pizza. For dessert they went to a popular cake place a few doors down and left a half finished slice on their table after about 10 minutes. And finally for a night cap they split a flight of beers at a tasting room, of which nothing notable was drank. The next day Joshua texted Alex, "I had a great time yesterday - the deep dish pizza wasn't my thing, the dessert was a little too rich, and only 1/4 of the flight was good tasting beer, so it must have been the company!" Luckily Alex agreed! After four months of dating, Alex ventured off to New York City and the two made long distance work for two years, having a wonderful time with trips back and forth or meeting each other in a new city to explore; with the added benefit of reaching Gold Status on Alaska Airlines along the way. When the pandemic began, Joshua went remote at work and moved out to NYC to live with Alex. Their pandemic experience was going on bike rides at Governor's Island, walking completely around Manhattan, and weekly trips to their favorite sushi restaurant. Eventually they began to make their way back to Seattle, by way of Houston. They rented an AirBnB for four months in the new city, exploring Houston with a group of Alex's friends. Mid-way through their extended trip the couple adopted Ava, a German Shepherd mix, from a shelter in San Antonio. Finally making it back to Seattle in June and settling down in Green Lake, the couple is excited to share this next stage of their journey with you in April!
