Alex's version: One day in October, while I was checking out a customer at H-E-B, I noticed one of our new workers bagging groceries at the end of my line. My first thought was "oh God, another newbie." (New baggers tend to be super slow.) To my relief, James was faster than the average "newbie." We would talk occasionally and I thought he was really nice and funny...and cute. I was glad to have someone my age to talk to, who actually had conversations not involving High School drama. Fast forward to December, a co-worker overheard James ask his bagger if I was single. She informed me, "James has a crush on you," which made me blush. I got his snap-chat before leaving for my family's Christmas cruise. The day I got back from vacation we started texting and talking more...just getting to know each other. He'd flirt with me as he walked by at work by kicking the back of my shoes while I was bagging. We went out on a few dates, and the rest is history. James’ version: I moved to Austin in August of 2016 and my granny said H-E-B would be a good place to work. So I applied, thinking I was sending it to the one right down the street, but it turned out I applied to the wrong location. They called and hired me and I started in October. My first day they put me as a bagger and they paired me with several different cashiers, but my last one for that day I’ll never forget. It was Alex! She looked so beautiful...I had an instant crush on her! The next couple months I would flirt with her and we would have such great conversations that we would forget we were working sometimes. I remember asking a few coworkers if they knew if she was single or not, but no one ever knew anything. Then one day in December she asked for my Snapchat because “she was going on a trip and wanted me to see her family pictures.” (She wanted me is what it really meant.) So I waited patiently for her to get back to town. When she got back I made my move...we started talking. Now here we are!
