This verse has anchored us throughout our relationship, as we have sought to abide in Christ and behold Him more fully, for His glory, the good of others, and our own good.

The story began in early 2022 at Florida International University, where God brought Irene and Alex’s paths together through Campus Bible Fellowship (CBF), their Bible club, and their church community. Introduced by a mutual friend, their very first conversation was simple and brief, centered on their shared Venezuelan background and faith. At the time, neither of them could have imagined that this small interaction would become the beginning of the story the Lord was writing for them.

Although Irene and Alex began seeing each other often through church and CBF, their friendship grew very slowly over time. What started as brief, occasional conversations eventually led Alex to deeply admire Irene, though after an early attempt to pursue her, they remained simply friends for a year and a half. Through seasons of waiting, prayer, and trusting in God’s timing, the Lord continued bringing them together in unexpected ways—especially through moments at FIU that they now look back on as clear reminders of His faithfulness and guidance.

As time passed, Alex continued faithfully praying for Irene while intentionally spending more time with her, often meeting at the FIU law library while she studied for the Dental Admission Test (DAT). What began as short conversations slowly turned into a deep friendship filled with joy, encouragement, prayer, and growing affection for one another. After many months of waiting and seeking the Lord, Alex asked Irene to be his girlfriend on January 19th at a beautiful park, even learning one of her favorite songs by Morat to sing to her beforehand. She said yes, and from that day forward, the Lord blessed them with a relationship filled with love, laughter, growth, and unforgettable memories with family and friends.

During Irene’s dental school application season, Irene and Alex spent much time praying about the future and seeking the Lord’s guidance for their relationship. After Irene was accepted to University of Florida College of Dentistry, conversations about marriage became more intentional, and the Lord continued opening doors and confirming His faithfulness along the way. Then, on March 16th in West Palm Beach, after a surprise planned with the help of close friends, Alex asked Irene to marry him beside a beautiful fountain plaza. Completely surprised and overwhelmed with joy, Irene said yes.

Looking back, Irene and Alex can truly say this story has always belonged to the Lord. Through every season, the waiting, prayers, uncertainty, joy, and answered prayers, He has remained faithful. As they begin this next chapter of marriage, their prayer is that their relationship would continue to glorify Christ and be marked by love, joy, grace, faithfulness, and peace.
