Alex and Hannah first met at Cape Ann Lanes in Gloucester. Hannah and her friend Sophia were having a girl's night and were seated next to Alex and his friends. Since Sophia grew up in Essex with Alex, they began to reminisce and she introduced the two of them. Hannah remembers thinking Alex was very cute and had a “cool guy walk”. He told her that he put money down on her winning, which against Sophia the odds were SLIM, but he was being smooooth. A whole year went by and Hannah decided to download good ole' Bumble. Well, who does she see on there? Alex Ray, aka bowling guy! They began messaging and soon enough he asked her to get a drink at Finz in Salem. The night finally arrived. He called 30 minutes before to check in about her address and to say he was on his way, but for anyone who knows Hannah, she hates talking on the phone and couldn't believe he was calling. She was also used to boys texting or beeping that they are here and was unprepared for gentlemanly old-school Alex who greeted her at the door. On the way to Finz, Alex ran a stop sign because he was looking at Hannah so much. He also had his windshield wipers on full blast when there was no rain, I think he was a little distracted! They ended up getting the wobbliest table at the restaurant and laughed about their initial awkwardness, but almost immediately the conversation was flowing. It felt like they had known each other forever. The similarities in their childhoods, schooling, values, & sense of humor were amazing. Hannah and Alex ended up closing the place and the bartenders even gave them their last beer on the house! It was a great first date. From that day forward, they never played it cool and that's what Hannah and Alex love about their story. They hung out the next three days (making Sophia third wheel 2/3 of those times) and even met Alex’s whole family on day 3 at a baseball game! To say they moved fast is an understatement, but when you know, you know. It felt like hanging out with an old friend, someone they had always known and loved. <3
