It was a normal Monday night in Brookline when the two hardened veterans of the Boston dating scene met up for the first time at the Abbey after having matched on Hinge. Neither of us remembers what was consumed but the conversation was engaging and we discovered that we both were the eldest of four! Before we knew it was time to part ways. We shared the obligatory awkward first date hug and then headed in opposite directions. This time felt different but would we ever see each other again?
We did see each other again! (I know shocking if we hadn't then what even is this website for) We spent the next few years growing our relationship, taking trips, and spending fun nights out with friends.
After completing extensive research leveraging incognito windows I found what I needed and made the purchase. I arranged for the ring to be delivered at a time when I was expecting Halli to be at the airport on her way to a conference. As it should happen she stopped in to grab her bag for 15 minutes and that was when the doorbell rang. Oh no! I rushed the door and signed for the package after politely shushing the delivery person after she asked if I was getting engaged. I hid the package in the porch and came back in claiming it was someone asking for money. Crisis averted. After that I started to look for the right opportunity. After returning from Thanksgiving, I had it. I wrapped up the larger box that the ring came in and placed it under the tree. I mentioned to Halli that I thought I had nailed her present this year and then gave no hints. I just let her stare at the present wondering for weeks. Christmas was nearing and we had a busy week before we were to leave for NY/NJ. Halli asked if we could open presents on that Sunday night before our hectic week. What could I say but of course! That night we opened our presents sitting around our Christmas tree and when she finally got to the ring I asked her to marry me and she said yes!
