How We Met

Fall 2013 or 2.14.2019

Funny enough, Greg and I crossed paths multiple times growing up. In Fall 2013, we met each other for the first time as we waited for the bus to pick us up at the end of the day during our junior year of High School. I was the new girl, and he was the guy that everyone knew and loved. A friend of mine introduced us and maybe 10 seconds later my friend said, "And this is his girlfriend." End of first encounter...however, God has perfect timing and little did we know we would meet a second time on February 14th, 2019. I was on my way to celebrate Valentine's Day with a group of singles, and he was headed in the opposite direction to give a rose to his girlfriend. We ran into each other, struck up a conversation, and our friendship began to blossom. After getting to know each other and being close friends for a year, we finally began dating and the rest is history <3

The Proposal

6.17.2023

Greg booked us a trip to OBX to “celebrate us both graduating from grad school”. One early morning, he told me to dress up because we were going to take pictures at the beach since we "Never take pictures as a couple." I obliged and he drove us down the coast to an empty stretch of beach. We had the beach all to ourselves for miles in either direction. He began to take pictures and I thought of the brilliant idea to use shells to make the shape of a heart. (Little did I know that the ring was in his bag right next to all the shells). When we finished setting up the heart, he told me to face the ocean with my hand out and to not turn around because he was going to put the camera on the 3 second timer. It took him a bit to "set the timer" and for some reason I didn't turn around until he said my name. When I looked, he was already on one knee and started reciting the speech he had been preparing for the entire morning. I was beyond surprised, and Greg was so excited he forgot to open the ring box until the very end. It was an easy yes and we spent the rest of the morning walking the beach excited about our future together.
