June 8, 2025

Naples, NY

The proposal

On April 20, 2024 Alex got down on his knee at the Pittsford canal to ask Gina to be his wife. This was months in the making as he coordinated with a photographer to ensure the moment was captured, knowing how much Gina loves photos, and that their immediate family was lined up nearby to celebrate. Alex tried to surprise Gina by saying they were going to Simply Crepes to meet up with his work colleagues but Gina was too nosey and suspected something was up. The couple celebrated at Label 7 with an intimate lunch and hopped over to Pourin' Joy for one of their favorite drinks - an espresso martini.

Our Story

His perspective... I had known Gina at College, but our paths didn’t cross often to the extent of us having conversations. We both had significant others during our time in college, and graduation came and went for us as we parted ways to our respective cities (myself going back to Syracuse and her back to Canandaigua). I’m a firm believer in everything happens for a reason, so while college may have been a missed opportunity for us to connect, I looked at it as “part of the plan”. Years following graduation, I had noticed Gina was single and shot my shot. What started as a simple Instagram message, led to an amazing first date which in retrospect was the start to our forever for us. From there, everything seemed so easy. Moving into her house, countless weekend getaways, vacations, endless laughs, memories, hardships, and everything in between created what was and will forever be our love story. Her perspective... I knew of Alex from college through a few mutual friends. In 2021, as a New Year’s resolution, I had come up with a list of 10 qualities I wanted in a guy. Little was I about to know three months later I got a DM from someone who would check all those boxes. Alex started out by complimenting the #GreaterROC work (IYKYK). I went full business mode in my response and for some unknown reason, Alex decided to continue the conversation. We had an a amazing first date in Geneva and I walked away so energized to see what was to come — a feeling I hadn’t felt before. What started out as a date at 1pm for beer resulted in day long festivities getting back to my parents after 10pm. My friends were tracking my location and checking to see if I was in fact alive and well. Alex asked me to be his girlfriend on 9/22 when he came down to Myrtle beach for his first Godlewski family vacation. He slowly moved into my house, where we saw how seamless it was to live together and the rest is history.
