How We Met

WE ARE...shocked that even after four years of attending the same college, we still never met until two years after graduation.

Gina and Alex both attended Penn State University from 2008 until 2012. They were both the presidents of their sorority and fraternity, however they never crossed paths until a few years after college. From the early years of living in NYC and getting together at friends' apartments, Gina and Alex met initially and became acquaintances, not knowing that each of them had secretly been interested in one another. Alex's roommate happened to be one of Gina's good friends, and they continued to cross paths here and there at different social gatherings. Fast forward three years later in May 2017, Gina and Alex once again found themselves at yet another social gathering, this time in Brooklyn, however for the first time, things were different. After having one too many drinks, Gina did something she's never done...made the first move. They immediately hit it off and the rest was history.

The Proposal

April 13, 2019

With some help from Gina's friends, Gina was under the impression that she and Alex were getting brunch with friends on the west side of Manhattan. Gina even scoped out the menu to see what she was going to order that day and was looking forward to having margaritas and Mexican food with her friends and boyfriend (who would become her fiancé that day instead). Little did Gina know that brunch was not happening. Alex asked Gina if she wanted to walk to brunch through Central Park, since they live on the Upper East Side and brunch was on the Upper West Side, and the weather happened to be perfect that day. Of course Gina couldn't just go along with that plan and requested that they take Uber instead. After much convincing, Gina finally and begrudgingly agreed to walk to brunch. After a few minutes into walking in Central Park, Alex stopped Gina right in front of a pond with small sailboats, and got down on one knee immediately. Gina was so surprised, she doesn't remember much of what was said, but she was so thrilled to say 'yes' to her best friend and her forever. Alex surprised Gina with a photographer, and they walked around Central Park taking pictures. Alex and Gina's families surprised them at an Italian restaurant on the Upper East Side to celebrate their engagement, and then Gina's friends surprised her at her apartment to continue the celebration. It was the best day filled with so much happiness and love!
