Things to See and Places to Eat

With our events on a Friday, you have the whole weekend to be a tourist if you want! Southeastern Pennsylvania has so much to offer- museums, botanical gardens, parks, and historic sites are everywhere you look. We also have a fabulous food scene, both in the city and in the suburbs. See below for our recommendations in both categories- sites are first, followed by food & drink.

Independence National Historical Park

Philadelphia, PA 19106

Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, and the Constitution Center are all right next to each other. Also recommend seeing Ben Franklin's print shop and Elfreth's Alley. If you do go to Independence NHP, please be patient with and extra kind to our wonderful National Park Service staff! Our park rangers and volunteers are incredibly dedicated to preserving and sharing our nation's history, and are dealing with being severely understaffed due to the elimination of many federal jobs.

Valley Forge National Historical Park

1400 North Outer Line Drive, King of Prussia, PA 19406

Earn your Founding Fathers Fangirl/Fanboy badge by hitting Valley Forge AND Independence NHP! If you do go to Valley Forge, please be patient with and extra kind to our wonderful National Park Service staff! Our park rangers and volunteers are incredibly dedicated to preserving and sharing our nation's history, and are dealing with being severely understaffed due to the elimination of many federal jobs.

Wissahickon Valley Park

Valley Green Road, Philadelphia, PA 19128

One of our favorite parks for hikes and birding. The wedding is actually IN the park, but if you want to go for a walk/hike while you're here, this is the spot! There's loads of trailheads, so you can explore anywhere.

Mercer Museum

84 South Pine Street, Doylestown, PA 18901

Gab's very favorite museum in her hometown. Great if you love early American crafts and wacky collections. Spend the whole day in Doylestown and hit up Fonthill Castle and the Moravian Tileworks for the full Henry Mercer experience!

The Franklin Institute

222 North 20th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103

Venerable science museum downtown. A lot of exhibits geared towards children, but it's a good time for any age.

Laurel Hill Cemetery - East

3822 Ridge Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19132

For our spookier/macabre-inclined folks. A stunning cemetery in a park-like setting- great for a walk and enjoyment of funerary art. Worth a visit even if spooky isn't your thing!

Longwood Gardens

1001 Longwood Road, Kennett Square, PA 19348

A bit of a hike from the city, but if you like gardens this is the place to go. There's greenhouses, historic houses, meadows, formal gardens, fountains, a vegetable garden...I could go on. **Please note that you would probably need to get here by car.**

Bartram's Garden

5400 Lindbergh Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 19143

The first botanical garden in the United States! A really special place, and far easier to get to if you don't want to venture to Longwood.

Morris Arboretum & Gardens of the University of Pennsylvania

100 East Northwestern Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19118

Philadelphia Zoo

3400 West Girard Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19104

Someone told me it's all happening at the zoo....

Barnes Foundation

2025 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia, PA 19130

Coolest art museum around- a really unique collection of paintings, material culture, and art in other mediums.

Reading Terminal Market

1136 Arch Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107

You can find almost any type of food here, and it's all fabulous. A great stop if you're venturing into Center City.

Wissahickon Brewing Company

3705 West School House Lane, Philadelphia, PA 19129

Our preferred brewery to hit with friends. While they don't have food, you can order takeout or grab a meal at whatever food truck is there- they're always excellent.

Bar Sera

382 East Elm Street, Conshohocken, PA 19428

Our absolute favorite restaurant. Killer pizza and delicious & creative cocktails.

Maido! A Marketplace of Japan

5 East Lancaster Avenue, Ardmore, PA 19003

One of our favorite places to eat. Lunch counter serving Japanese comfort food, with an attached Japanese grocery store for all your snacking needs.

Tired Hands Fermentaria Tap Room

35 Cricket Terrace, Ardmore, PA 19003

Really creative beers and good food. Basically across the street from Maido! in Ardmore.

Attic Brewing Company

137 Berkley Street, Philadelphia, PA 19144

Grab Deke's Barbecue while you're here (it's right next door).

High Steaks

242 East Butler Avenue, Ambler, PA 19002

Don't bother with Pat's & Geno's, guys. Alex loves this place.

'feine

812 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, PA 19428

COFFEE. Really creative and fun seasonal drinks- one of our favorites for a Sunday treat.

Conshohocken Brewing Co - Conshy

739 East Elm Street, Conshohocken, PA 19428

An excellent outpost for one of our favorite local breweries. Their main taproom is in Bridgeport, a short 7-10 minute drive up the road.

Workhorse Brewing Company

250 King Manor Drive, King of Prussia, PA 19406

Beer in an old toy factory.
