We have hired shuttle busses. Busses will depart from Aspen and Snowmass to take everyone to the wedding and back into Aspen & Snowmass after the wedding. We do not recommend driving! From Aspen: Buses will pick everyone up from Paepcke Park at 4:30pm! From Snowmass: Buses will pick everyone up from Stonebridge Inn or Lot 1 at 4:30pm! From Downvalley: Buses will pick everyone up from Snowmass Intercept Lot at 4:45pm!
Snowmass is a great option! It is about a ~20 minute drive from Aspen and has its own chiller vibe. There is a free shuttle bus that takes you between Aspen and Snowmass every 15 minutes making it super easily to get to and from. Accommodations in Snowmass are much more affordable!
The best way to combat altitude sickness is staying hydrated! Ensure you begin hydrating 5 days in advance of travelling to Aspen and continue to hydrate on arrival. Lauren recommends taking gingko supplements prior to coming to Aspen.
Aspen sits at an elevation of 7,908 ft. above sea level. A glass of wine in Florida feels like two glasses in Aspen. Be careful not to overdue it! Make sure to keep a bottle of Pedialyte handy, just in case you opt for "one more". :)
Great question... in Colorado, the saying is "if you don't like the weather, wait 20 minutes". It's constantly changing! Always keep a jacket/extra layer on you. On a beautiful, clear day a long sleeve tee and shorts/pants will be comfortable. By nightfall, a heavier jacket will be useful. Have we seen an early season snowfall in September? Yup. Also, the streets in the downtown Aspen are cobblestone. Don't bother packing stilettoes!
No! The town is extremely walkable.
Being that Aspen sits an elevation of 8,000 ft., we are super close to the sun. Pack a hat, plenty of sunscreen and lip balm! Despite how the movies frame Aspen, it's actual a very casual town. Make sure to pack a few warm layers, the evenings are chilly!
We love your kids, we really do! But we want our wedding day to be carefree for everyone so please plan accordingly! The wedding is adults only. Let Emily and Matt know if you need help finding a reliable sitter!
Basically, cocktail attire but we encourage you to enjoy dressing for the fall mountainous weather. Have fun with suedes, leather, fringe, etc. Be mindful that temperatures will drop significantly at the end of the night so remember to pack a coat/jacket. NOTE: the ceremony will take place in a natural field, therefore stilettoes are not encouraged.
