Nestled in the woods, just a stones throw from the river, right outside of Portland, Oregon there is a magical little village of log cabins and hobbit cottages where Hannah and Alexander met and eventually fell in love. That perfectly warm Oregon summer the air was thick with the scent of pine needles and the wooden bark chips that lined the paths. You could hear distant squeals and giggles of kids at all times. College volunteers ran around with children of all ages, who all had parents affected by cancer, giving them a free week of camp that summer. Hannah caught the eye of Alexander with her oversized cherry red goodwill sweater, tight hiking shorts, and beyond worn out running shoes while laughing loudly and chasing around 6 and 7 year old campers. To him she was Meatloaf, her chosen camp name which hid her true identity the entire week. Hannah (Meatloaf) was equally intrigued by the boy called "Bang" sporting his own hand made tie dye shirts and voted “most likely to teach free children’s guitar lessons” by the fellow counselors (she was voted most likely to be a soccer mom- the outfits surely helped). At camp their focus was 100% on the kids but they left with butterflies welling up as the counselors all said their goodbyes to each other until classes started again in the fall. They both knew there was a connection but it wasn’t until months later when they would run into each other at a Halloween party. From across a crowded room, Hannah shouted “Bang!” to get his attention as he was leaving the party. At this moment, Alex disregarded any and all plans he had for the rest of the night and instead asked Hannah a very simple yet forward question...“Do you want to hear me play guitar?” and the rest is history… Seven years later after many sushi dates, mountain slopes skied, music festivals, miles of hikes, a year of dating long distance, years of medical school, and a pandemic Alexander surprised Hannah with her dream ring. On their way out the door to vacation at the beach, in the dimly lit foyer of their first shared apartment, he got on one knee. “It’s simple” he said “I’ve loved you since the day I met you.” She has too, and she said yes! We are so excited to be celebrating our love with the friends who brought us together, those we met along the way, and the family that has supported us through it all!
