In the summer of 2017 Alex was doing an internship at the farmer's co-op in Rozel, Kansas and living in Larned. Before leaving Manhattan for the summer internship he joked about meeting a nice western Kansas girl that he could bring home. Little did he know that he would find just that. Alex and Madisyn met one afternoon by chance when Madisyn was visiting her best friend Anna (maid of honor) who lived in the same apartment building. After getting to know each other for a few weeks they went on their first date on July 22nd.

Alex and Madisyn may be graduates from opposing schools their love for each other is stronger than any school rivalry. Although they may not agree on whether KU or K-State is better they can agree on being Chiefs fans.

It started out as any ordinary Saturday, enjoying naps and lounging around the house. That evening they went out to eat. Afterwards Alex took Madisyn for a surprise adventure, a short hike in the country along a trail that overlooked the valley and city of Lawrence. Despite the beauty of the view and the sun starting to set, the heat, mosquitos, and almost getting chased off by some ticked off bumble bees had Madisyn deciding it was time to go. While Madisyn was taking a picture of the sunset Alex said he needed to tie his shoe. As Madisyn turned around to see what was taking him so long she started to cry when she saw him on one knee with a ring. The rest is history.
