We both moved into our CWU dorms the fall of 2015. We met in passing by's as we brought our boxes and furniture into our rooms. His room shared a wall with mine. Quickly, our hall became friends and Alex and I became close. We had countless game nights, movie nights, study dates, pranks, and cafeteria meals before it was already the end of freshman year. We, not so officially, had our first date watching The Jungle Book in the theater that May. A seemingly roller-coaster of events happened and somehow we are already four years in and engaged!
I should have known something was coming. I woke up to breakfast in bed. He left to run some 'errands' which gave me plenty of time to get ready for the day. I didn't. I just laid there playing on my phone until I ran out of time. As soon as he came back, we hopped in the car and drove to the gorge to get a hike in. Normally, we don't like to drive that far, and normally, Alex hates to wait for a parking spot when the lot is full. He was suspiciously patient and I still didn't suspect a thing. We had agreed to wait a while longer before getting married, despite my hints. We hiked up to the first waterfall and the bridge was full of people taking pictures. We moved on and decided to take some on the way back down. We didn't make it very far before we were soaked from the rain and decided to turn back. As we were approaching the waterfall again, Alex suggested taking pictures. Again, I should have been very suspicious!! We started taking a few and I turned around to get a different view. When I turned back, Alex was on his knee and holding the ring. It is my favorite memory to date and still feels like a dream.
