An Alissa and Alex favorite! We recommend sitting outside. Locally sourced ingredients. Fabulous bakery. A wonderful choice for breakfast and/or lunch, with outstanding mountain views. When you are done eating there are some great shops to visit as well.
Alissa's favorite place! Kristi and Maureen frequent the place on a regular basis due to the friendly people and the fun vibe. They have an amazing master mixologist, and she has agreed to be our wedding cocktail crafter. Honestly, you cannot go wrong with any drink. Seating inside and out.
First, they call it the the Mother Ship. Do we need to say more... we will. Great local beer, large outdoor area, live music, unique taproom. The perfect place to visit after the sights of the Rio Grande Bridge or a hike at the La Vista Verde Trail. Alissa recommends the Rose Cider. Maureen recommends the Great Scot. Alex recommend the Rocket 88. There is a good variety of beer styles to be had.
Easy. A quick jaunt from the Rio Grande Bridge. The last quarter mile is a dirt and windy road. A level hike that is great for those looking for a leisurely hike or are still acclimating to altitude. If you are paying close attention there are petroglyphs to find and a good chance of seeing some big horn sheep. Bring your binoculars!
Moderate. You wind down the Rio Pueblo, and at the base the Rio Pueblo will meet up with the Rio Grande. You may see fly fisherman, signs of mountain lion, and big horn sheep grazing along the mountain cliffs. Great views await you!
East going down, more difficult coming up. You start high and wander down through the rocks and ponderosa pine for about a mile and a quarter to the river basin. At the bottom stick your feet in the rushing Rio Grande and ogle the massive canyon you are apart of. There is a good chance you might see big horn sheep, so bring your binoculars! The hike is a 2.5 mile out and back. The second half is uphill, but it honestly is not bad because the incline of the switch backs are manageable for most. It is well worth it!!
