We met in the science hallway of our middle school through a mutual friend when we were twelve years old. We quickly became best friends and did everything together. When we were fourteen, we began "dating." I still joke that I was never his girlfriend because he never officially asked! We ended up dating all throughout high school, college, graduate and medical school. Fifteen years later on July 17, 2019, my best friend asked me to marry him. Finally, on May 30, 2021, we will have an official anniversary to celebrate!
If you're here, you know that this wedding was meant to be LAST May...but, COVID. So here we are a year later and we are finally getting married! Since we postponed last year, a few things have changed. Alex officially became a doctor and matched into his PM&R Residency program at ECU, placing us in North Carolina! I started a new job working at an amazing pediatric clinic, helping little one's reach their speech and language goals. We are loving North Carolina, and while we miss our families in New York, we are so happy here! Mostly because we no longer have to deal with snow, and because my sister moved out here with my brother-in-law and three nephews and we love being able to see them more often! We also have a few new additions to our family! On Alex's way home from work one night, he saw a tiny black and white kitten trying to cross 3 lanes of VERY busy traffic. Naturally, he stopped traffic to rescue him, called me, and we spent all night in the emergency animal clinic. By the next day, the kitten was ours, and we now have Moo, who is full of so much love and character! Two weeks after that, after being on the waiting list for two years, we got our puppy; a miniature golden doodle named Waffles! Her and Moo are the exact same age and are absolute best friends. They play all day, keep us thoroughly entertained and give us and each other so much love. They also spend their days equally terrorizing our other cat, Mau Maus, who has been with me since Alex started medical school when I needed some extra company. So, other than some (pretty major) life changes, everything else is pretty much the same, and we can't wait to finally celebrate our big day with everyone!
