Although neither of us has ever lived in Chicago, this city has meant so much to us.
Emma’s parents first met in Chicago and were married in Chinatown. After moving away, her family returned faithfully almost every year from December 26–30 for more than two decades completing the same cherished circuit of restaurants, museums, and plays.
During his PhD, Alex likely spent as much time in Chicago as he did in St. Louis, and many of his closest friends call this city home.
Despite spending nearly a year as PhD classmates at Washington University in St. Louis, our first date was at the Art Institute of Chicago. Since then, we have returned to the city more than 30 times.
