Hotel Decameron Barú

We plan to depart Cartagena and the Walled City on Sunday, February 17, the day after our wedding, and head to Isla Barú via bus. Barú is an island south of Cartagena, reachable via ground transport. We'd love for you to join us after our wedding for fun and relaxation at this All-Inclusive resort on the Caribbean coast. We do not recommend you stay here during the days prior to our wedding as it is difficult to get on and off the island. To make your reservation please contact 1-855-308-0375. Flight Details

Cartagena is located in the Caribbean and is about a two-hour non-stop flight from Miami. Cartagena's Airport, Rafael Núñez Airport (CTG) is located 2 miles from the historic Old City. The airport is serviced by the Colombian carrier, Avianca. International carriers include Copa (sometimes operated by United), Spirit Air, Mexicana, JetBlue, Delta and American Airlines. The only direct flights to Cartagena are from NYC, Miami and Fort Lauderdale. The airlines offering this service are Avianca, Jetblue and Spirit Air. There are infrequent direct flights from Boston to Cartagena on JetBlue. Other than the few non-stop flights offered, most itineraries will have at least one stop. This will usually be a one-hour layover in Bogota, Panama City, Ft. Lauderdale or Miami. The flying distance between Bogota and Cartagena is 45 minutes, between Miami and Cartagena is 2hr 15 minutes, and 1 hr from Panama City.

Taxis/Ground Transport

We recommend you book transportation ahead of time through American Express or you can simply hire a taxi inside the airport. There is a Taxi stand inside of baggage claim at the CTG Airport. It is easy and safe to hire a taxi here. You simply tell the attendant your destination and they print you a receipt with the zone of your destination and the fixed price of the trip. You take this outside to the cue of taxis and take the next available car. The drive to the Historic Old City, if you are staying there, should be about a 10 - 15 min drive and cost approximately 15,000 Pesos (around $5). *Keep checking our website for updates concerning a shuttle from the airport. If a large group of us end up traveling on the same flight and arriving at the same time we may organize a group shuttle. For those of you joining us in Baru, there will be a shuttle on Sunday, February 17 to transport our group.
