Most people will fly into SFO airport and then head to Sonoma via an Uber or rental car. Or, you can fly directly into Sonoma County airport if you'd like to avoid the traffic.
We have a room block at the Sonoma Valley Inn/Best Western, but there are so many great options. If you choose not to do the Sonoma Valley Inn but want to be walking distance to the shuttle and right in town, try the Dorado Hotel or Ledson Hotel. If you want a more resort feel and don't mind being less central (and don't mind uber-ing to the venue) try the Renaissance or the Fairmont. If you want your own space, check out the many airbnbs in Sonoma!
Traffic to the wine country on Fridays can be heavy, particularly in the afternoon, and can add hours on to your trip. If you have flexibility in your travel, we recommend landing early in the day to avoid the Friday afternoon traffic and start drinking wine sooner!
For the wedding, we're saying 'formal and festive,' which means suits for men and cocktail or evening dresses (short or long) for women. We're in Sonoma, so feel free to embrace color and patterns! For footwear for the wedding, we recommend women wear flats or wedges rather than heels, since we'll be on grass for the ceremony. It will (hopefully) be warm for the ceremony, but after the sun goes down may get cooler -- so women might want to pack a shawl or cardigan. There will be heaters in all the spaces, too, but just to be safe!
Good question. While Fitz's genetic testing appears to indicate that he is a pure bred border collie, we aren't convinced and continue to look for signs that he is actually part wolf or at least a hyena from the Lion King.
