Alex and I both ran on the cross country and track teams at UC Irvine. During our team bonfire my freshman year, Alex came and introduced himself and I knew right away that I was in trouble. After more than a few awkward conversations, Alex took me on a few dates to explore everything that Orange County has to offer (the beach, hiking, kayaking, etc.) before we decided to make things official. We became attached at the hip since the moment I stepped onto Irvine's campus and we've never looked back!

After a little over five years of dating, we booked a trip to Tokyo, a trip we'd been dreaming of since we first started dating back in 2012. Alex had been our travel guide the whole trip, and about 3 days into our trip, he said he wanted to surprise me by taking me to a really cool place at night. In Roppongi Hills (the Beverly Hills of Tokyo), we went up to the Tokyo City View/Observation Deck on the 52nd story of this building. I was so amazed by how beautiful the city looked at night and it did not even begin to cross my mind what we were there for. It was kind of an unknown place without too big of a crowd inside (and unbelievably romantic!). We took a seat along the edge near the window to take in the view, reminisce on our trip so far, and rest our feet after a really long day! Alex was very adamant about wanting to sit underneath the light, which I thought took away from the whole view but I went with it (still completely clueless). After talking about how amazing it was that we were across the world looking out over the whole city at night, he got down on his knee and popped the question! I was so stunned, shocked, confused, and EXCITED that I couldn't say yes fast enough! And let me tell you... the ring was shining SO bright underneath the perfectly placed light!
