It has been seven years together and four of those years we have been engaged! After a few set backs oh and a pandemic it's finally happening!! and we can not wait to celebrate with all of you!
We both worked at Mr. Hero and after we got to know each other we haven't spent more than a few days apart.
It’s 7:30 am on Easter morning, but like every morning I start waking up with a yawn and a big stretch. Out of nowhere Alex pops up over my head, suspiciously chipper for 7:30 in the morning, "Good morning babe! Are you awake?" he enthusiastically asks. I reply with a groggy, “no” but that I should probably get up and start making the food we are supposed to take with us to Easter dinner. "Do you want your Easter basket?" Alex asks, clearly excited. Of course I do, so Alex goes running up the stairs to retrieve my basket and I grab his from its hiding spot! When Alex comes back, I am presented with the most beautiful basket I have ever seen! It is a shallow brown wicker basket with light pink paper filler. There is a stuffed gray bunny, a yellow plush chick in a pink egg that sings, a Dove chocolate bunny, white chocolate Reese's eggs, Starburst jellybeans sprinkled all over the basket, a beautiful bouquet of mixed color roses and tulips, and three beautiful, perfectly placed, "Faberge" eggs (there are pictures on the photo page). I am flabbergasted at my basket before me. I think of the basket I am about to hand him and I am now slightly embarrassed, but Alex is all smiles and could care less about his own basket at the moment. He has me open each egg in a specific order. The first egg I open which is blue gray, has a gold crisscross pattern, and clear gems everywhere the gold intersects has a Pandora charm that says "family forever." The second egg I open which is royal blue, has a clear gem fillogere pattern, and a pearl on top has another Pandora charm and he tells me it’s called a "love knot" (aww! right!?), my heart is fluttering from the cuteness, but then he has me open the third egg which is the largest and most beautiful (so i thought) black egg with a gold and clear gem leaf pattern and a black and gold crown surrounded with clear gems on top. Inside, it has a little bride and groom charm.
At the sight of this charm I am practically starting to have a panic attack; my brain is running a mile a minute. An as I am silently freaking out, Alex reaches in the basket, deep down underneath the candy and pink paper, and he pulls out one more egg; a stunning fourth egg that is completely covered in clear gems. My heart is pounding so hard, I swear he can hear it because i can't hear anything else. Alex looks and me and says, "Easter is kind of our holiday because we were only dating for a little over a month when you took me to meet your whole family for the first time. Well this Easter I would like to ask you to be my family for the rest of our lives. Will you marry me?" I then looked down at the egg, which he opens revealing a GORGEOUS antique ring!!! Alex tells me later after I get him to stop jittering around because he is coming down from being so nervous that he put the ring together with the help of the jeweler over a year prior. They found the band that is from around 1950 that looked "very Corrie" in the estate jewelry. The diamond was from another ring; also from around 1950 in the estate jewelry; a hand cut old mine diamond that after it was cleaned up "put rainbows around the room". Alex told me it reminded him of me because it's beautiful, one of a kind, and lights up the room. (i know right!? I'm crying again too!) ... oh right back to the story! I'm processing what just happened; what he said; this beautiful basket on our bed with all these beautiful things and this stunning ring; tears are streaming down my cheeks, which hurt from smiling, and I realize I haven't answered him yet… Poor Alex is staring at me visibly getting more worried as each second passes... I grabbed his face looked at him nose to nose and said "YES!! I LOVE YOU!! YES!!!"
