One morning my best friend calls, telling me she just had the most amazing dream. Her two favorite people were dating. She calls Cody shortly after to tell him the same thing. Initially, he was annoyed; he thought I had a boyfriend. To his surprise and excitement, I did not. A few months later, she sets us up. We all planned to get together at an Iowa/Iowa State tailgate. Cody was late because he insisted on stopping to get a giant turkey leg first. Here I am, standing at the end of the sidewalk, watching this man walk towards me with a half eaten turkey leg in his hand. Talk about love at first sight! He eventually asks me to go on a date with him the next day. $4 tacos and a parking lot kiss later, we hit it off. We started out long distance and didn't see each other again for a couple months. Cody almost gave up on me, as my hesitant self wasn't sure how realistic this was with us living in different states. I eventually made a last minute decision to make the trip and go see him (just days before he later told me he was about to give up.) Long distance, multiple moves including one across the country, some ups and downs, and a lot of adventures in between, he finally put a ring on it!
