Wedding Party

Meet the wedding crew!

Luke

Groomsman

I am the groom’s older brother and longtime teamate in hockey, questionable food choices, and lifelong supervision. Cody and I grew up playing hockey together, and for the record, I scored on him… a lot. I work in controlled environment agriculture sales, which is fitting considering I somehow ended up related to two people in the Ag sheep and lamb business despite not liking sheep as creatures (though I very much supports the consumption side of the industry). These days you’re more likely to find me fishing in the middle of a frozen lake. During my post-secondary years, I made it a habit to come home and “check in” on my younger brother while our parents were off travelling the world — usually arriving to find an impressive and slightly concerning stack of pizza boxes. My first impression of Alex was that she was an incredibly hard worker and an even bigger supporter of my brother. I knew she was the right one when she didn’t blink an eye at him showing up in Manitoba with a case of Corona and a box of pizza to visit. I am thrilled to officially welcome her in and couldn’t have picked a better person for my brother to build a life with.

Shayne

Groomsman

Hi I’m Shayne and I’m Cody’s oldest brother and Kyra’s husband, and Hunter and Micah’s Dad. Cody has always felt older and closer to me than our 7 year age difference shows. Whether we were battling in hockey or trying to survive back country ski hill runs where I had no business being, let alone guiding a middle school age brother into, or sharing tractor and skid steer rides with Hunter and Micah, Cody has been right beside me. I may be the oldest, but it seems anytime we needed to have a trailer backed up, Cody was the one in the drivers seat even if he couldn’t quite see over the dash yet. I’m so happy the day is finally here to officially welcome Alex into the family, although she’s been an important part of our family for years already. Cody and Alex I’m proud of you both for what you’ve built together and can’t wait to see where life takes you.

Chantelle

Groomswoman

Hi! I’m Cody’s favourite sister—also his only sister, but that’s a small detail. My passions include my three dogs, skiing, and the PWHL. As the older sister, I’ve spent years guiding my little brother, so I’m thrilled to see he finally got something right. My wife Shyla and I couldn’t be happier to celebrate this day with them.

Brett

Groomsman

Hi my name is Brett. My favourite colour is orange and I like to play sports. On a serious note, I’ve only known Cody for a few years, but it feels like it’s been longer than that. Being neighbours, we’ve had multiple games and movie nights and there’s always laughs to be had. Cody has impeccable movie recommendations Sharing a love for sports, helping each other out with our yards and trucks has made for a lot of great memories. He’s a great guy, a decent goalie (just kidding)😉, and I couldn’t be happier for him as he marries his forever, Alex who is also pretty awesome. Wishing you both a lifetime of laughs, teamwork, and all the best ahead. Congratulations!🍻

Dalin

Groomsman

Just a fellow sheep farmer that likes to spend his free time telling Cody how to play his own board games and have Cody explain hockey. But I end up talking to Alex about books anyways. Cheers to the couple!

Seth

Groomsman

Hey everyone, my name is Seth. I’ve been living in Lomond for 2 years now that’s where I met Cody and Alex. Near the end of Cody’s stint in Lomond he seemed to have an obsession of me beating him in NHL.

Alyssa

Bridesmaid

It is I, Alyssa Whittington sister of the bride

Jade

Bridesmaid

Hi! I’m Jade, Alex’s deadliest friend from Manitoba. I’m also a mom to the sweetest baby boy, Rhett, and a psychiatric nurse… which means yes, I did complete a full psychiatric evaluation on Cody before Alex said yes. The results were concerning, and despite my professional advice not to proceed — here we are. Just kidding!! I crashed Alex and Cody’s Valentine’s Day in 2023 — and honestly, crashing their wedding just felt like the natural next step. Cheers to Alex and Cody! 🥂

Hannah

Bridesmaid

A few years ago, I got a call that there was a rogue ewe running down the highway. Slightly confused about why one of our sheep would suddenly choose freedom, I threw on some clothes, headed out into the dark, and went to wrangle her, because nothing says a normal evening like highway sheep retrieval. After tracking her down, it became obvious she wasn’t ours… just extremely lost and living her best independent life. A series of phone calls later (and about half an hour of chasing a sheep through brush and trees with my husband) we met Cody and Alex for the very first time, successfully reuniting them with their escape artist. And honestly, that moment told me everything I needed to know: 1. Alex stays calm in chaos. 2. Cody is committed through thick, thin, and livestock-related emergencies. 3. Our friendship was clearly destined… or at least sheep approved. Since then, we’ve shared unforgettable adventures, like racing a wiener dog at a Hurricanes game, spontaneous shopping and ice cream runs, and Alex fully supporting my questionable, impulsive livestock purchases… which is the true mark of a great friend (and possibly a future financial advisor I should not trust). Alex is truly one of a kind, and I’m so honoured to stand beside her today and celebrate this amazing next chapter with two people who clearly know how to handle life’s unexpected runaways… both sheep and otherwise. Cheers to the happy couple! 🥂

Kyra

Bridesmaid

Hi! I’m the very lucky sister in law to Cody (and soon to be Alex!). I married into this crew and have two beautiful boys, Hunter and Micah, who keep life loud and full. I’ve been part of Cody’s life since he was just a little guy, and we quickly bonded over both being the babies of our families. I have always been so proud of the man he has become and everything he’s accomplished. Of course, his greatest achievement being Alex. Alex moved here a few years ago and we have been inseparable ever since. We instantly connected over our shared love of dragons, fae, and all things bookish. She has been such a steady rock in my life, and I am so incredibly honoured to stand beside her as part of her bridal team.

Tiara

Bridesmaid

Hey! I’m Tiara! I met Cody back in 2019 when he came down to Barry and Anne’s branding. In 2020 when Cody moved to Eastend, we quickly became friends, as Gina and I were over regularly for drinks and card games. We were all sad to see Cody head to Manitoba when he left Eastend, as he became a big part of our friend group. However it was meant to be when he met one of the sweetest girls, Alex. I am so happy for the both of them, and glad Cody found someone to put up with him.

Zaine

Bridesmaid

Hello all, my name is Zaine. I am from Lomond, AB which was actually just over an hours drive from where Cody grew up, yet we never really crossed paths because he was too scared to talk to me at high school parties. So I made the big bold move to introduce myself to the both of them many years later when they moved to town. While being in Lomond, my partner Seth, and I have seemed to acquire some occasional new roommates considering how often they dropped by. Which is totally okay but I was starting to think there was more going on between the boys and them planning “dates” to play NHL on the Xbox. During these times, Alex and I would get into some great conversations over the constant yelling and swearing in the background. Apart from that, Cody seemed to have roped Alex, Seth, and myself to the local pickleball nights twice a week. We always enjoy their company whenever and wherever we are and wish them the best in their future endeavours and I definitely expect some future pickleball games with the future Mr. and Mrs.!
