On May 4, 2023, Alex and Chris worked a morning shift together. Throughout the shift they joked about how crazy Disney's Hollywood Studios probably was with Star Wars fans galore celebrating May the Fourth. As the shift progressed, they started talking about how fun it would be to go to Hollywood Studios themselves. They clocked out and walked out to the parking lot together both unsure of if the other was serious about going. Finally Chris said "Are you really going to go?" and Alex said "I'll go if you go!". Chris responded, "Well I guess we're going!" A couple hours later, they met at Hollywood Studios and sure enough saw plenty of people dressed as Star Wars characters! They rode Toy Story Mania (Alex won!) and a few other rides and as dinner time approached, Chris looked up dinner reservations and found a table for two at Roundup Rodeo BBQ, the newest restaurant at Disney World. They decided on a whim to take it! They both enjoyed the food but did not get their money's worth as it's a family-style all you can eat restaurant, and neither Chris or Alex have big appetites. They chatted about the theme parks, traveling, and their families. This ended their first of many "Disney Days" together and it wasn't until months later when they started officially dating that they decided Roundup Rodeo BBQ was their first date.
While researching their next trip to the state of Washington, Chris came across a beautiful location at the Northwestern tip of the Olympic Peninsula. From the moment he saw the pictures, Chris knew this was the spot he wanted to propose at. Alex knew that she was going to be proposed to on their Washington trip, the only question was where? From driving along the Skagit River at the North Cascades, to hiking the Skyline Loop at Mount Rainier, the anticipation was building for the moment of proposal! Following those two adventures, Alex and Chris finally made it to the last leg of their pre-engaged journey, Olympic National Park. It was now their last full day in Washington, and our party was about to begin their hour long drive to the proposed location. Located in the Makah Reservation, the couple traveled through winding roads with Canada on the horizon to Cape Flattery. Once they stepped out of their car to walk the trail, Alex immediately started patting Chris down, searching for hints of a ring box! Little did Alex know, Chris was hiding it in the inside pocket of his vest, and guarded it with his hand. Alex and Chris proceeded down the the trail, stopping at all of the viewing platforms lined along the end of the trail. Each one was beautiful in it's own right, but Chris knew there was one that would be best. Finally, they reached the last platform and the end of the trail. There were 2 other hikers on that platform, but they quickly left, leaving Alex and Chris in an intimate setting. After telling Alex how much he loved her, Chris got down on one knee, noting how this was the farthest away from home he's ever been. Asking her if she would like to go further, Chris proposed "Sara Alexandria Viguet, will you marry me?" After much giggling and glee, Alex said yes!
