Springton Manor Farm
Our venue itself! Springton Manor has been in agricultural use since the early 1700’s. On this demonstration farm, you can meet the animals and learn about Chester County’s farming history. The barn complex consists of the Great Barn, sheep shed, goat shed, a roost and equipment shed. You may see horses, donkeys, rabbits, calves, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens and peacocks. The Family Farm Museum, located within the Great Barn, contains seasonal tools and apparatus used on Chester County farms from the 1700’s to the 1900’s.
Kennett Square (35 minutes from the venue)
Kennett Square is a quaint little town with restaurants and shops to explore. It is referred to as the "Mushroom Capital of the World" and one of our first outings outside of Philly was to visit its annual Mushroom Festival!
Longwood Gardens (35 minutes from the venue)
Longwood Gardens is a botanical garden that consists of over 1,077 acres of gardens, woodlands, and meadows in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, United States in the Brandywine Creek Valley. It is one of the premier horticultural display gardens in the United States and is open to visitors year-round to enjoy native and exotic plants and horticulture (both indoor and outdoor), events and performances, seasonal and themed attractions, as well as educational lectures, courses, and workshops.
Valley Forge National Historical Park (28-40 minutes from the venue)
Valley Forge is the encampment site of the Continental Army during the winter of 1777-1778. The park features 3,500 acres of meadows, woodlands, and monuments commemorating the sacrifices and perseverance of the Revolutionary War generation and honoring the power of people to pull together and overcome adversity during extraordinary times.
Wissahickon Valley Park (45-60 minutes from the venue)
For those spending some time in Philadelphia before or after the wedding, we highly recommend checking out the Wissahickon Valley Park and Forbidden Drive! Less than a mile from our house, this is our go-to park for hiking, running, biking, and taking romantic pictures. Philadelphia Museum of Art (50-60 minutes from the venue)
The Philadelphia Museum of Art is one of the country’s oldest public art museums. The landmark main building houses one of the most comprehensive collections in the country, featuring some of the greatest gatherings of American, Asian, and European art anywhere. It houses the world’s largest Marcel Duchamp collection as well as superb Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings, including important works by Monet, Renoir, Degas, Cézanne, and Van Gogh. ALSO you can also take a trip around the corner to see the must-see Rocky statue.
