August 2012: We met on the first day of biology our freshman year at North Dakota State University. August 2012-Spring 2015: We spent countless hours braving the pre-professional tract together along with a group of wonderful friends. Spring 2015: Alex stopped by my place of work with a few of his coworkers. I mustered up the courage to ask him on a date after my shift ended. Spring 2015- Spring 2016: During this time frame, we began to know each other on a more personal level as we dated. This was a time of much uncertainty in our journey. We spent a great deal of the year focused on gaining acceptance into professional programs. In all honesty, we did not know if we would continue dating once we knew where we were accepted. Alex, however, had other ideas. When I told him I had chosen to go to Iowa for dental school, he exclaimed, “I think we deserve a fair shot. Will you be my girlfriend?” I said yes and we have not looked back since. Fall 2016-Spring 2020: We spent these four years 600 miles apart. Although some say distance is difficult, for us it somehow proved easy. We were able to relate to one another through one of the most rigorous times in our lives. We learned to be selfless while we pushed each other to reach our professional goals. The freedom and grace we allowed each other during this time built a solid foundation for our future. Spring 2020: Alex matched the internal medicine program in Fargo, ND. We could not have been more thankful to be closer to family and friends and, additionally, to make Fargo our permanent home. It is safe to say Alex and I will never move 😅. Summer 2020: We purchased our first (and likely last) primary residence. It was a bit of a whirlwind starting our new positions and becoming homeowners, but we made it work. Fall 2020: Alex proposed while we were vacationing in Glacier National Park. I may have accidentally gave Alex a heart attack before we left. I had this spur of the moment idea to rearrange our closets before vacation, not knowing Alex had hid my ring in one of them. It took him a while, but he found the ring :) He proposed off the main dock at Lake McDonald with a mountain backdrop. It is one of two times I have ever seen him nervous. Spring 2022: We unexpectedly had an accepted offer on a lake cabin. If you see doubles of items on our registry, this is why 😅 Fall 2022: To be the best season yet as we get to promise ourselves to one another in front of God, our family and friends. We could not be more eager nor thrilled to spend our day with those who have been part of our lives and will continue to follow us in our journey. Spring 2023: Hoping we will add the addition of four paws to our house hold :)
