Our love story begins just as the world was emerging from COVID. Brooke had just started her next big adventure as the Chef de Cuisine of a new restaurant in Los Angeles, while Alex had begun a new job with the construction firm building that very same restaurant. Basically, Brooke was in charge of the food and Alex was in charge of…everything that keeps the building standing. On Brooke’s very first day, she opened the door, locked eyes with Alex, and immediately told her colleagues, “Dibs.” (Bold strategy, but it worked.) For months, Brooke and Alex exchanged friendly hellos while reviewing building plans, kitchen layouts, permits, and the occasional weekend plans. As the restaurant’s opening got closer and closer, Brooke began to wonder why Alex hadn’t asked her out yet. Finally—just in time—Alex gathered the courage and asked, “Will you have dinner with me?” The very next evening they had their first and last first date. Alex set the bar high by taking Brooke to one of LA’s favorite restaurants, Redbird, followed by dancing the night away at La Cita. Neither of them wanted the night to end…even though they knew they’d see each other again at work on Monday. From there, things moved pretty quickly. Coffee walks during the workday turned into nights out around Los Angeles, and before long they realized they were pretty great at doing life together. Over the past four years, Brooke and Alex have been dancing their way through life and traveling the world—exploring places like Puerto Rico, Cabo, and Valle de Guadalupe. Alex has also encouraged Brooke to try new hobbies…including skiing. After some convincing, Brooke agreed, and together they’ve “shredded” mountains across Utah, California, and Colorado. We are so excited to get married in San Miguel and can’t wait to celebrate in one of our favorite cities with the people we love most.
