IT ALL STARTED WITH A BAND-AID AT THE GYM. Alex was in his usual weightlifting routine with his brother Danny when she walked by. Brinlee. She worked there at the time, always in motion, keeping the place spotless. Every time he saw her, he’d nudge Danny. Despite Danny’s pushes to “just go talk to her,” Alex waited for a fate-approved excuse. ENTER THE BAND-AID. He walked up to where Brinlee was crouched, mid-task. A shadow fell across her. She noticed a pair of shoes stop right in front of her. Slowly, she looked up, twinkling blue eyes meeting his. For a split second, she was sure she knew what was coming. Another number request. Another polite but firm no. Instead, Alex asked for a band-aid. Later, they bumped into each other again, and this time he asked for her number. From the start, Alex felt certain. Brinlee, caught off guard by his forthrightness, kept her guard up, and after a few dates they realized the timing wasn’t right. They drifted apart. Months later, they crossed paths again. Alex mentioned he had just gotten his motorcycle license, to which Brinlee eagerly suggested he show her sometime. Alex assumed it was just a hangout — maybe she’d even flake — but the next morning, she texted early to lock in a time. That very next night, they rode up Provo Canyon. At the top, with the valley lights below, Alex realized that it was a date. That's when he kissed her. Riding back down the canyon that night, everything felt different, like the road had just opened up. Life’s had its bumps since, but with Brinlee by Alex's side, every ride feels smoother, easier, and a little more free.

TODO COMENZÓ CON UNA CURITA EN EL GIMNASIO. Alex estaba haciendo su rutina de pesas con su hermano Danny cuando pasó Brinlee. En ese tiempo, ella trabajaba ahí, siempre moviéndose, dejando todo limpio y en orden. Cada vez que Alex la veía, le daba un codazo a Danny. Y aunque Danny le decía “ya ve y háblale”, Alex quería esperar una buena oportunidad. ESA OPORTUNIDAD FUE UNA CURITA. Se acercó a donde Brinlee estaba agachada, ocupada en su trabajo. Ella notó que alguien se paró frente a ella y levantó la mirada. Sus ojos azules se encontraron con los de él. Brinlee pensó que le iba a pedir su número, y ya estaba lista para responderle con un “no, gracias”. Pero Alex, en lugar de eso, le pidió una curita. Más tarde, volvieron a cruzarse, y esta vez él le pidió su número. Desde el principio, Alex se sintió seguro.
