Alex and Bianca first met during their freshman year at UC Davis in Fall 2014. They both lived in the same dorm, Live Oak Hall, Alex on the 1st floor and Bianca on the 2nd. Someone in the dorms had organized a Super Smash Bros Tournament on the 1st Floor TV in the common room. Bianca was there to have fun and make new friends, while Alex was there to win. Alex doesn’t remember Bianca being there.

Alex and Bianca were both in the same MAT 021B Calculus class during the Winter 2015 Quarter. This was around the same time Trivia Crack, a trivia-based game on smart phones, reached the height of its popularity. Alex played against all his friends and family and found he was the best at this game (besides his brother), until he met Bianca. Their mutual friend Injung, who was also in the same class, introduced Bianca to Alex thinking that they would make great opponents at this game. They each had met their match. Today the record stands at 51-51, and they refuse to play against each other anymore.

During that Winter Quarter of freshman year, the connection between Alex and Bianca grew. Unfortunately, Bianca (perhaps holding a grudge from earlier in the year) would end up getting a boyfriend just one week before Alex was going to ask her out! Still they remained friends for the rest of that Freshman year. Sophomore year meant moving out of the dorms and less classes together. The friends were naturally drifting apart and Alex had moved on from any hopes of a relationship, or so he thought. Spring Quarter would put them together in one of the most enjoyable classes Davis had to offer: Beatles 101. The last assignment of the year was to write an answer song to a track of your choice. All of a sudden, Alex found himself writing a song not about his general experiences but solely focused on Bianca. Clearly he was not over her.

Two years of Trivia Crack matches and missed chances later, the time was right. Alex played Bianca a recording of the song he had written for her. Bianca was smitten (ew) and they finally got together in October of 2016.

They moved into their 1st apartment together (1 bedroom/1 bathroom) in August 2020, during peak pandemic time. They moved again to their 2nd apartment (2 bedroom/1 bathroom) apartment in May 2023. Finally moving out of their college town, they bought a house together in Woodland, CA in December 2024.

For their dating anniversary every year, Alex and Bianca have a tradition of gifting each other a fancy dinner. On October 16, 2024, Bianca treated Alex to Ella Dining Room in Sacramento. The day after (the actual date of their anniversary), Alex took Bianca to their favorite Davis restaurant, Osteria Fasulo. This date would be their 8th anniversary together and Bianca had no clue that this would be their most memorable one. Alex coordinated with the owner of the restaurant to make this night one they would never forget. He arranged to be seated at a specific table and put Bianca’s favorite dishes on the menu. The wait staff were able to pace the meal out so that the couple were alone in the restaurant at the end of the night by the time dessert was ready. As the last patrons were leaving Bianca began to get nervous. Ever the gracious customer she knew how important it is for the crew to be able to go home on time. She even went so far as to check online what time they close and was shocked to see 7:30pm! By now it was about 9:00pm and suddenly Bianca forgot that this was the last seating time not their official closing. Despite reassurances from Alex that this was normal and that they do this all the time, Bianca wanted to finish dessert ASAP. While Bianca was scarfing down the tiramisu it was time for the proposal. The song Alex had wrote all those years ago began playing over the speakers and it took a minute for Bianca to realize what was happening. Alex began his small speech and for a second Bianca feared she may have eaten the ring! Luckily Alex got down on one knee and produced the ring from his jacket pocket. Spoiler alert she said Yes!

On July 11, 2025, they officially adopted 2 brothers of the same litter, an orange kitten named Tobi 🧡 and a black kitten named Mako🖤.
