The Earthship is an off-grid home invented by Taos Architect Michael Reynolds. Earthships are built out of recycled materials like earth-rammed tires, cans, and bottles, and the roof harvests water and recycles that water multiple times. Earthships also grow food, treat their own sewage, and collect power from the sun and wind. This place is so cool, we highly recommend checking it out.
At 650 feet above the river, The Rio Grande Gorge Bridge is the second highest bridge on the U.S. Highway System and the fifth highest bridge in the United States. During construction of the bridge in the 1960s, funding did not exist to continue the road on the other side, leading to its nickname, the “Bridge to Nowhere.” Directions: Follow US Highway 64/ New Mexico State Road 522 north for approximately 3.5 miles to the last 4 way intersection of town. Turn left to get onto US Highway 64 West. Travel about 8 miles. Cross the bridge and the parking area is on the left.
They have amazing Mexican Ice cream. Mango Con Chamoy 😋 is our favorite.
If you’re flying into Albuquerque, definitely check out frontier restaurant for breakfast. It’s our absolute favorite. Get the fresh orange juice, sweet roll and western style hashbrowns.
